Who Is LGMS Parent Council?
The School Council is an association of parents and school staff who meet monthly and work together to promote the well-being of the entire school community and to enhance student learning and school life.

Next School Council Meeting

Presentation on Drugs and Alcohol
Addictions counsellor Kristin Spangenberg will present to parents at 7:30 on February 16 in the Learning Commons at LGMS. All are welcome.
Grade 7-8 Dance, February 9, 7:00-9:00
At LGMS for Grade 7 and 8 LGMS students, sponsored by Parent Council. $5 admission; juice and chips will be available for purchase. DJ Rob Murray. Proceeds to Grade 8 Farewell.
Pink Shirt Day, March 1
Encourage your child to wear pink to show support for the anti-bullying message. Prizes in each classroom.

Welcome Back Breakfast
Parent Council hosted a breakfast for teachers and staff on October 2. Thanks to those who baked and decorated!
Right from the Start
Right from the Start is a program in local schools to build mental health capacity.
Food for Learning
Food for Learning is a voluntary program available to students at Lawrence Grassi Middle School. The purpose of the program is to provide a nutritious snack and lunch to children who could benefit from a daily supplement of a nutritious, balanced meal. This program is supported by community and corporate donations and dedicated volunteers. It is a no-fee initiative. The program will begin the second week of school. Please call LGMS: Ms. Falloon.
Thank You Rotary Club!
Parent Council was just awarded $7500 in Alberta Winter Games Legacy Grant funding. The money will go towards construction of a Gaga Dodge Ball Pit and purchase of bikes, skis, heart rate monitors and more.
Congratulations to WE Day Students!
Congratulations WE Day kids and all students and parents at LGMS who supported the WE Day bake sale. The bake sale raised $577, which was matched by parent council for a total of $1154. Students Lauren, Eli and Jordan told Parent Council that was enough money to pay 721 children for a day, or to keep one child in school for 721 days. Fantastic!
